Every Findawayer now has a Fun Pass to Caine’s Arcade

Findaway World has donated $260 to Caine’s Arcade, making every Findawayer the proud owner of a $2 Fun Pass to the innovative, cardboard arcade. Caine Monroy, a 9-year-old boy with a true Findawayer spirit, built and runs Caine’s Aracade from his father’s used auto parts store in East L.A. Our donation was made through the Caine’s Arcade Scholarship Fund – a hugely successful effort to raise money for Caine to go to college and to foster creativity and entrepreneurship in children.

The Fred Rogers Company was founded by Fred Rogers in 1971. Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood is one of the longest running series in television history and was broadcast every week on PBS for more than 40 years. Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, doesn’t only entertain; research has confirmed that it helps young children develop the emotional and social skills needed for learning in and out of school. Fred Rogers received two Emmy Awards, one for outstanding work in Children’s television and another for Lifetime Achievement. He was also inducted into the Television Hall of Fame, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.

ALA Midwinter!

Our team had a great time at ALA Midwinter–it was such a fantastic opportunity to see some of our favorite customers in person (don’t worry if you weren’t there…we said “some of our favorite customers!”). While we did have fun, we’re always keeping in mind that for many Playaway users, the Playaway format is more than just play. Talking to librarians at the show really cemented this belief, as their patrons definitely use Playaway for literacy learning, inspiration, comprehension, imagination, and relaxation…and so much more. Thanks again if you stopped by our booth. Your partnership is invaluable. For the rest of you, we hope to see you one day soon!
